Week 9
More PHP & mySQL coding. With Mr. Buck's help, we were able to make some progress today and have an outcome. However the final part didn't work!

Week 8 - PHP & SQL coding
Introducing SQL and database management - Oh dear - surely it can only get easier the more you use it? Where does one start. I understand the concepts of table_id, table_lastname, table_firstname etc etc, but when you mix it with php coding - forget it! I have some serious revision to do!

Week Six
Assignment time! I have the quiz all setup and ready to go with Luke's guidance. All the coding seems to work. Now for the graphics. My assignment is based on the 2008 Beijing Olympics, so I have to be very careful what I select for graphics due to copyright issues. I think i'm going to put 'fireworks' at the top of the page to symbolise 'China' and the celebration of the Olympics and then just keep it simple with a theme colour. I'm still trying to work out the coding for the answer page and have an image pop up with the 'if' statement. Not quite grasping the coding with this feature yet. It may have to do with where the picture is and how it's trying to retrieve it. I'll keep plodding along and if need be there is always the bulletin board if I need help!

Week Five
Luke let us work on our assignments in class today, which was fantastic. I think I am starting to understand it, although the results page was definitely challenging! But with some help from Dan & Billy I was able to produce something beneficial!
Week Four
PHP Coding - Oh lordie! I'm struggling to grasp it and we didn't really have a lot of time in class this week to 'nut it out'. Looks like homework time.

Week Three - More coding...but it's making sense!
Thank god for my working buddy Louise, who seems to be 'miles' ahead of everyone when it comes to PHP. Although a little frustrating to be around someone who can come across a little impatient, however she did make it all a little clearer for me to understand the process. Today we managed to code a PHP page to '$_request' a name of variable from another page through the use of forms using; text boxes, text areas, check boxes, radio buttons, drop-down and list menus. All skills which will be put into good use for our Quiz assignments.
Thank you Louise for making this class a little more enjoyable this week :)

Week Two - PHP coding
Going through the handout and I begin to wonder whether I will ever get it? Arrghhh! Popped into the Mac lab today and found some other Dynamic web students trying to 'nut' out the coding also, at least i'm not alone :)
So, what have I learnt so far?
Loads of coding, but I now need to put it into action and instead of trying to understand it on paper, it's time to make sure I can produce the results on screen. Still a few more to finish on the handout, so i'll get going and get on with it. I really do hope it starts to make sense, seems to bring back loads of Actionscript memories :)
Bring on the Quiz!
